Get Back Up!

Posted By at Wednesday, August 08, 2018

You can always get back up and overcome any failure if you really want to. So stop wallowing and start winning.

I Remember Jerry Savelle said, "A set back is just a set up for a come back!"

Walking by faith does not mean we will be free of trouble.

Jesus said in John 16:33 Amp Bible, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you]."

We have all probably experienced some failures and made some mistakes in our lifetime. In fact, successful people often have more failure in their lives than average people do.

It's how we respond to failure and mistakes that is one of the most important decisions we can ever make any and every day in determining our ultimate success.

Throughout history, most great people at some point in their lives experienced some form of failure. Remember it's only those who do not expect anything that are never disappointed.

I read about an invitation that was extended to many influential people to witness one of humanity’s most historic moments – the Wright brothers’ first flight in their heavier-than-air machine. But only five people turned up. Think what the others missed out on, seeing the first airplane flying.

Once as Dr. Billy Graham preached, a missionary’s daughter battled an almost uncontrollable urge to run out of the meeting. It was Ruth; his future wife but it wasn’t conviction that made her squirm. It was her response to what she considered appalling preaching.

They said; "He’s balding, skinny, but can dance a little!" They were talking about Fred Astaire at his first audition, boy did they ever miss it.

Would-be crime novelist John Creasey received an unbroken succession of 743 rejection slips. But now over sixty million of his books have been published.

Since failure is common to many people, one of the most important life-skills we can learn is how to respond to apparent failure.

Successful and resilient people know how to turn every failure or set back, into a learning experience—a stepping-stone to their future success.

So what does God's Word say?

Micah 7:8 NLT Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.

When you fall you shall rise again! That means GET BACK UP!

Prov 24:16-18 NLT The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked. 17 Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble. 18 For the Lord will be displeased with you and will turn his anger away from them.

Even if you fall seven times GET BACK UP!

Your life is like a boxing match. You are not defeated each time you fall, but only when you refuse to stand back up again and continue to fight.

When you feel the worst and when failure is breathing down your neck, press into God's Word as never before! You may need to meditate on a particular scripture for days, and even weeks sometimes, trying to get a revelation of it, seemingly without success. Then suddenly, like the dawn of the morning, light will come pouring in. You'll see the way to break through. God's Word never fails so keep on keeping on!

Success Starts on the Inside

Prov 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…

Prov 4:23 GNB Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.

How often have you heard a speaker ask; "Is the glass half full or half empty?"

How you answer this question reveals your attitude to life, towards yourself and towards God. It reflects the level of your own self-esteem. Those with a healthy self-esteem know who they are in Christ and see themselves as such. They see themselves as valuable and worthwhile, whereas those with a low self-esteem put little value on their opinions and ideas and constantly see themselves as not good enough.

A low self-esteem negatively affects every area of your life; your relationships, your job situation, your income level, your business, your ministry or whatever you're involved in.

However, I have good news for you today! It’s never too late to change your life by changing your thinking. You can raise your self-esteem to a positive and healthy level physically, financially, in your marriage and every other area of life; even if you're now an adult and you have had a self-image problem since childhood.

It's a known fact that you will become what you think about. People who meditate, ponder and examine dark and evil things will eventually go and do something stupid, it's hard to get free from those images once they are embedded in your thinking.

You should change the way you think about your life if you are a negative person.

You are today exactly where your thoughts have brought you to and you will be tomorrow where today's thoughts take you.

Start accepting God’s opinion of you as He says in His Word.

Deut 28:13 You are the head and not the tail.

Deut 28:13 You are above only and not beneath.

John 1:12 You are God's child.

John 15:15 You are a friend of Jesus Christ.

John 15:16 You have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit.

Rom 5:1 You are justified.

Rom 8:1-2 You are not condemned.

Rom 8.37 You are more than a conqueror.

1 Cor 3:16 You are God's temple.

1 Cor 12:27 You are a member of Christ's body.

2 Cor 1:21-22 You have been established and anointed.

2 Cor 2:14 You are a winner.

2 Cor 5:17-21 You are a minister of reconciliation for God.

Eph 1:6 You are accepted.

Eph 1:3-8 You have been chosen by God and adopted.

Eph 2:6 You are seated in heavenly places.

Eph 2:10 You are God's workmanship.

Phil 3:20 You are a citizen of Heaven’s Kingdom.

Phil 4:13 You can do all things through Christ.

Phil 4:14 You are able for anything.

Col 1:13-14 You have been redeemed and forgiven.

Col 2:9-10 You are complete in Christ.

Col 3:1-4 You are hidden with Christ in God.

Heb 4:14-16 You have bold access to the throne of grace.

Begin now to see yourself through the positive eyes of God’s Word and your life will be raised up from the ordinary to the extra-ordinary.

God’s Word is the key to your new way of thinking.

Today, you can start to turn your life around. Even this very instant, you can say yes to a new way of positive thinking it will change your lifestyle and level of living in every area.

Having Another Spirit

Posted By at Wednesday, September 13, 2017

God speaking about Caleb in Numbers, said in Chapter 14:24 My servant Caleb has a different spirit.

Caleb, as a young man came back from spying the Promised Land, and didn't consider safe living but stood with the minority and announced, "With God on our side we'll take it!"

At 85 years old he was still slaying giants, claiming mountains and leading his tribe to do the same. That's because he had 'a different spirit'. He didn't go with the flow.

Richard Edler author of 'IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW' writes: "Safe living generally makes for regrets later on. We are all given talents and dreams. Sometimes the two don't seem to match. But usually we compromise both before ever finding out. Later on, we find ourselves looking back longingly to that time when we should have chased our true dreams and our true talents for all they were worth. Don't let yourself be pressured into thinking that your dreams or your talents aren't prudent. They were never meant to be prudent. They were meant to bring joy and fulfillment into your life."

If a caterpillar refuses to get into its cocoon it'll never transform and will be forever relegated to crawling on the ground, even though it had the potential to fly in the bright blue sky and enjoy the sunshine.

What do you believe God's called you to do? Start to do it!

God's not limited by your IQ but He is limited by your "I will".

Someone said: "If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don't. If you'd like to win but you think you can't, it's almost certain you won't. Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man, but sooner or later the man who wins, is the man who believes he can."

It's all about your state of mind.

The spirit of Caleb is the "can do" spirit! Have you got it?

You Can Be a Success

Posted By at Wednesday, May 24, 2017

You may have heard the joke about the old Australian man who was given a brand new boomerang for Christmas. Unfortunately he nearly went crazy trying to throw his old boomerang away.

Life can be like that sometimes. Have you ever tried to throw away an old bad habit or a self-defeating addiction? You must be persistent and consistent if you are to achieve any success.

Think about some of these famous people who were very successful:

  • Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor for lack of ideas. Walt also went bankrupt several times before he built Disneyland.
  • Leo Tolstoy, author of War and Peace, flunked out of college and was described as both unable and unwilling to learn.
  • Michael Jordan, perhaps one of the greatest basketball players of all time, didn't make his high school basketball team his sophomore [second] year.
  • Beethoven’s teacher called him hopeless as a composer.
  • Winston Churchill failed the sixth grade and become Prime Minister until he was 62. His greatest contributions came when he was a senior citizen.
  • Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he finally succeeded.

It's true that WINNERS NEVER QUIT AND QUITTERS NEVER WIN! God sees no limits for you today.

Jeremiah 32:27 I am the Lord, the God of every person on the earth. Nothing is impossible for me.

Sometimes it’s overwhelming to think about everything God has done for us, His people. We can always find things to get angry, disappointed or confused about, but God has blessed us in many ways and He doesn’t plan on stopping!

God wants to open doors for you that no man can shut, His infinite power has no limit.

God wants to shower you with blessings and nothing can stop Him. Expect big things from God, because He is all-powerful and He loves you!

Even so some people are just worriers. I know people who would win the world championship at worrying. They worry if they have nothing to worry about.

Do you realise that: -

Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday.

Worry is gathering bundles of twigs to build bridges you will never cross.

If worrying were an Olympic sport, most Christians would get the gold medal.

When we pray for truth and genuinely mean it, God always answers. Once we see the truth (cause) of our problem, we usually know what we need to do about resolving it.

As God's Word says in Psalm 145:18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Get a deeper hunger for God's Word.

1 Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment.

Perhaps your daily Bible reading has become more like duty than desire?

God says, "Crave pure spiritual milk… that… you may grow."

This word crave means 'asking earnestly, longing eagerly, feeling in great need of.'

So here are some suggestions to help you hunger for The Word:

  1. Ask God to meet you in the Scriptures.

As you read expect Him to show up. Remember, your goal is to build a relationship, not turn in a book report!

Matthew 4:17 The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

As you read become aware that Jesus is present. Ask Him to wash your mind - even if the cleanser stings a bit. Expect to be moved by His love for you, convicted of some sin or prompted to make changes in your life.

  2. Read your Bible with an expectant heart.

Be vulnerable! What you're after isn't information but transformation. Being unchanged by your Bible is worse than having no Bible at all!

Jesus said in John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

  3. Meditate on a brief passage or a word.

This may mean adjusting your attitude from getting through the Bible to hearing God speak to you.

Success isn't in the number of pages you read; God doesn't have a big behaviour modification chart on His refrigerator and each time you read another chapter you get another gold star.

Your goal is not to get through the Scriptures, it's to get the Scriptures through you!

If you're serious about deepening your hunger for God's Word, take a moment and re-read today's MID WEEK FAITH BOOSTER several times until it sinks into your spirit.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks teaching. Have a wonderful week and be blessed.

Steps to Success

Posted By at Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I want you to note today; I see that there are four steps to success.

The successful person is Imaginative, Committed, Affirmative, and Never gives up. The words begin with letters that spell I CAN!

Firstly, successful people are "I CAN PEOPLE." They have great an Imaginative mind and won't let circumstances hold them back!

They say: "I can and I will."

Now that we've considered that first word let's look at the others.

The second step to success is to make a Commitment to your dream and to your Goals. For genuine success, I believe this involves a prior step and that is to commit your life to Jesus Christ. I do not believe that God promises success to a person who does not make that commitment. You can make a lot of money, but if you have not Christ, all the money in the world is nothing. You may not have much money, but if you have Christ, you have everything. So commit yourself to Him and things will change!

Third, advance Affirmatively toward your goal. You'll probably have to think bigger than you have been. God has bigger plans that you've ever thought of up to this time. Perhaps you've heard the story of the fisherman who would keep the little fish he caught in a bucket, but the big fish he would throw back. When asked why? He said, “Very simple, I only have a small frying pan!”

Hey, silly fisherman, you don't select your fish by the size of the frying pan! You need to think bigger—you affirm that you need a bigger pan and then you go get it!

Fourth: Never give up! Winston Churchill delivered a commencement address at his old school, Harrow, that consisted of those three words repeated three times: “Never give up! Never give up! Never give up!” When he sat down, people sat in stunned silence. Then they gave him a standing ovation! What more really needed to be said to the graduates than, “Never give up!"

Remember what Jesus said in Luke 9:62 "No man having put his hand to the plough and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God."

Quitters never win and winners never quit! Quitters are already beaten before they start. God is not a quitter! He didn't give up on you, so don't you give up on you either!

Today I want you say it out loud: - I CAN!

We will be having communion this coming Sunday morning, 26 June at Family Faith Centre, so why not come along if you're in the area, and enjoy fellowship and good teaching and a light lunch afterwards!

What You Say Will Locate You in 2016

Posted By at Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Your life will rise or fall to the level of your words (confession).

This is one of the simplest facts of successful living, yet it's only practiced by a very few. This is one of the main reasons why only a few achieve real success.

The ones who fail in life did not plan to fail, they just failed to plan!

The secret of success is really very simple; it's doing the things the failures have refused to do! For example talking success and blessing.

The Word of God has a lot to say about this subject. I have used only a few references to open this short study.

The Word warns against using negative, defeatist words and it overflows with examples of those who talked faith and got the result of their faith talking. You will rise or fall to the level of your confession.

Talk fear, defeat, anxiety, unbelief, sickness, depression, worry, and you will be located at that level and it will become your experience.

It does not matter who you are; rich or poor or how many degrees you may have, this very principle is the same for everyone.

If your words are foolish, negative, disorganised and impractical, then your life will be the same.

But if your words follow and repeat God's Word about you and what you have, then your life will manifest what God says.

Your words paint a very public picture of what you're really like on the inside!

Jesus said in Matthew 12:34 "....out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."

You will say what you believe in your heart, that is a spiritual principle.

If your talk is negative: that's how you believe!

If your talk is careless: that's how you believe!

If your talk is anxious: that's how you believe!

If your talk is frustrating: that's how you believe!

If your talk is God's Word: that's how you believe!

Your words are busy painting a picture of what you really believe in your heart!

Your confession is the "real you" talking!

Your confession is your "word of faith" talking!

Jesus said in Matthew 10:32 "Whosoever therefore will confess me before men, him also will I confess before my Father which is in heaven."

Hebrews 13:5-6 "For He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee, so we may boldly say; The Lord Is My Helper...."

That's a Good Idea!

Posted By at Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Have you ever had a good idea and did nothing about it? Then find out a few years later someone else came up with the same idea and made a lot of money from it.

Convention has always been the enemy of invention in the same way tradition often impedes innovation.

The Bible teaches that we humans were created in the image and likeness of God; that is to say, every human who has the Spirit of God indwelling him or her has the capacity to invent just as God pioneered the creation of the world in the genesis of all things.  The pioneering Spirit is the spirit of creativity, innovation, cutting-edge ideas, entrepreneurship and witty inventions.

The Word confirms this by saying in Prov 8:12  I wisdom dwell with prudence and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

This scripture gives insight into creativity and innovation; it is implicitly saying that wisdom is the neighbour of the practical application of wisdom and when they take residence in your life, they help you find out clever inventions.

One God-given idea can change so much.

In 1824, Louis Braille sure did; he was a Christian and he invented a system of raised dots on paper that allowed the blind people to read. He invented 63 symbols representing every language, hence God's Word was placed into the hands of the visually impaired for the first time.

And what about communications? In part, you owe your mobile phone and your computer to a Christian named Samuel Morse. How different the world was before him! First-class news took two weeks to reach America. And the reports of a major victory could take six weeks to reach Great Britain.

One day a friend asked, 'Morse, when you were experimenting did you ever come to an absolute deadlock, not knowing what to do?'

Morse replied, 'More than once.'

His friend asked, 'What did you do then?'

Morse shared a secret, 'I got down on my knees and prayed for light, and light came, and when my inventions were acknowledged by flattering honours from America and Europe, I said, "Not unto me, O Lord, not unto me, but unto Thy name give the glory."'

That's why the first message sent by transatlantic cable read, 'What God has wrought.'

Now add another Christian named Louis Pasteur, the French scientist who showed us that infection is the result of things we cannot see, namely germs and viruses. He introduced sterilisation methods that eventually saved the lives of multitudes of people.

Do you think God has run out of good ideas?

Not a chance! He has plenty just for you too if you will spend time and ask Him.

Go ahead just ask Him for one for your life or your business!

The Secret of Success

Posted By at Wednesday, February 25, 2015

To have a really successful life you need to reduce the number of opportunities to make errors. Obviously the less number of errors then there is more truth, and thereby more success.

It is because of the inherent sin nature we have not dealt with, that we make mistakes. When we come to Christ and accept Him as Saviour we are taken out of the Adamic race and placed into the Jesus race of re-born people.

When we try to have a foot in both camps then we make mistakes, wanting to follow Jesus and His way but not really knowing how to do so.

The opposite of error is truth. Jesus said in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the TRUTH and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

So when we start to really follow Jesus we are following the Truth.

Jesus also said in John 8:32 And you shall know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall make you free.

So when you know the truth and do what it says, it means more truth and the less you make errors and mistakes and you can enjoy a successful life.

What is Your Purpose?

Posted By at Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Every child is born with the capacity to think like a genius but their surroundings and family life experiences determine how they face the rest of their life, many never find their true purpose.

The person without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder, they are at the mercy of the waves and the wind and have no control over their lives.

So have a purpose in life and in having it, throw such strength of mind and effort into your work as God has given you.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:19b-20 “Follow Me (Jesus) and I will make you fishers of men." Immediately they (Simon and Andrew) left their nets and followed Him.

God has a plan for your life and mine. Simon and Andrew’s life plan with Christ started right in that very verse. So how can you know what God’s plan is for your life?

The Bible is full of truth and wisdom on how you all can follow God’s plan for your life. As always, you need to look into the inspired Word of God, the Holy Bible, for concrete answers. For the Christian, being without purpose puts you at the mercy of the enemy who as Jesus said in John 10:10 is out to kill, steal and destroy.

That's why you need to know your purpose. But being defeated is often just a temporary condition. It is giving up that makes it a permanent condition.

Walt Disney said, "All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them."

God did not put you on this planet at this time for no reason. He has a plan for your life to be fulfilled here and now. If you do not find your purpose and fulfill it, there will be something that God planned that may be missed out on in someone else's life!

Michael-Angelo said, "Lord grant that I may always desire more than I can accomplish!"

You see, if you don't know your purpose you are just taking up space and wandering through life not achieving your full God-given potential. This condition only leads to disappointment, despair and depression.

All successful people have a goal. No one ever gets anywhere unless they know where they want to go and at least make some effort to get there.

You need to be like Moses and see every ordinary bush aflame with the presence of God. Today as you read this Mid-Week Faith Booster, if you want to achieve something like a feeling of well-being, just stop, take a good look at yourself and set some goals that will bring satisfaction and pride into your life. Seek God and ask Him what it is He plans for you, don't be a wandering generality - but be a meaningful specific.

Find your purpose and get on with it.
