I read an article recently, about how when the books of a certain Scottish doctor were examined after his death, it was found that a number of accounts were crossed through with a note: Forgiven too poor to pay.
The physician's wife later decided that these accounts must be paid in full and she proceeded to sue for the money. When the case came to court, the judge asked only one question. "Is this your husband's handwriting?"
When she replied that it was, the judge responded, "There is no court in the land that can obtain a debt once the word forgiven has been written on it."
One of the problems common to many of us is that we find it very difficult to forgive someone who we feel has hurt us deeply.
The good news is that when we confess our sins to God and ask for His forgiveness, He forgives us totally and absolutely.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
He does this not because He ignores the just penalty for our sins, He sent Jesus to pay that for us; but it is because in His everlasting love for us that He gave his Son, Jesus, to pay that penalty for us through His death on the cross. If we have confessed our sins to God and asked for his forgiveness, we need to accept his forgiveness by faith; regardless of how we feel. Even if we still don't feel forgiven, we need to deal with the problem of false guilt and/or shame. Be sure to thank God regularly for his forgiveness regardless of how you feel. And because God forgives all of our sins and wrongs, we need to forgive all who have wronged us. As I have said before; Failing to forgive is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
Col 2:14 NLT He cancelled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ's cross.
Is there a limit to His love? If that was the case:-
- David the adulterer never found it.
- Nor did Paul the persecutor find it.
- Nor Peter the liar; he never found it.
- Neither did the thief on the cross on that crucifixion day.
And you won't find it either! There is NO LIMIT to His love.
When Jesus cried from the cross in John 19:30 "It is finished!" It was totally completed for us.
Because Jesus paid our penalty for us, God can now write across our debt, Forgiven too poor to pay.
Then He wipes out our debt forever!
God wrote FULL PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE over every sin you ever commit from the womb to the tomb! Start to believe it today FULL PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE!
