Seeking God

Posted By at Wednesday, August 30, 2017

Psalm 53:2 NLT God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if there is even one with real understanding, one who seeks for God.

Are you a person who is a seeker of God? The Lord delights in seeing those children of His who truly understand the meaning of life and why there is only one thing worth seeking - and that is God Himself.

I can always tell when I have not been seeking God. The cares of this life, urgency over seemingly important and petty irritations - are all the symptoms of a life that has not been in the presence of God. Elizabeth always knows, because she says I get testy and irritable.

Do we understand, I mean really understand?

That is the question God raises to each of us today. If we understand, then why do we spend day after day toiling and fretting over what really doesn't matter?

Why don't we set up proper boundaries in our lives that don't allow our time with Him to be continually stolen away with trivial matters of little importance when compared with the eternal greatness of our life in Christ?

It is a challenge in a world that always screams "activity, activity!"

Have you set a regular time of seeking Him in your life?

Are you committed to developing that intimacy with The Lord that He so desires? If not, ask Him today to help you. This is the longing of His heart.

Ask Him to make it the longing of your heart. Then you will demonstrate to Him that you understand and you really are a seeker of God.

To Get the Most Out of Our Day

Posted By at Wednesday, August 23, 2017

1. WE MUST CONCENTRATE ON OUR RESPONSIBILITIES NOT OUR RIGHTS.

It's an imperfect world and we won't always be treated fairly; that's just a fact of life today. So to go far and travel light spiritually we must release and unload our resentments!

Paul says, Philippians 4:8 " . . . you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious - the best, not the worst . . . "

2. SPEND TIME WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE.

The only difference in what we are now and what we'll be five years from now is the books we read and the company we keep. Henry Ford once said, "My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me."

So what do your friends bring out in you, is it good?

Solomon said in Proverbs 13:2 "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."

3. MAKE TODAY THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE.

When Shirley Temple asked her mother what the happiest moment in her life was, she replied, "Right now."

Shirley then asked, "But what about the day you were married?"

Her mother said, "My happiest moment then was then, but my happiest moment now is now. You see, you can live only in the moment you're in, so to me that's the happiest moment."

That's a great answer!

Lamentations 3:23 "His mercies are new every morning."

Psalm 68:19 "He daily loadeth us with benefits."

That means getting up every day and announcing according to Psalm 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it."

It Is Already Yours!

Posted By at Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Everything God has prepared for you is already yours, right now, when you were born again.

In Luke 15:31 Jesus told the parable of the Prodigal Son. When the older son complained to his father about the younger son being a waster, the father then replied,
“And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.”

This is the way God responds to His children.

So often believers may ask, “God, why don’t You do this for me?”

But God replies, “Child, you are with Me. Everything I have is yours. Healing is yours! Abundance is yours and I won't go against my word to do something extra for you. Come get it any time you want. Receive it by your faith!”

So often we’ve wanted God to do something special for us, but He expects more out of us as His children.

He didn’t say, “The just shall live by the gifts of the Spirit or the special moves of God.”

He said in Rom 1:17 “The just shall live by faith."

We should find in His Word what belongs to us through God’s plan of redemption, then take hold of it with the hand of faith.

Jesus said in John 3:35 "The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand."

We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ, we have equal share in all that He has. Everything He has is ours, it belongs to us, by right of heir-ship.

No Fear Here!

Posted By at Wednesday, August 09, 2017

2 Tim 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

The Lord Jesus did not give us fear when He came into our hearts. He doesn't have any to give us. He gave us love and grace.

The Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid, or tongue-tied, or ashamed, it is to give us boldness and a faith voice.

Fear is the opposite of faith and fear always comes from our enemy the devil.

The Message Bible says: God doesn't want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible.

The atmosphere inside of us is positive because God is love and those perfected in love never fear anything.

I remember in the film The Wizard of Oz, the Cowardly Lion was afraid of his own shadow. He forgot how to be who he was supposed to be; the King of the Jungle.

Well, God's Holy Spirit working in us doesn't make cowards out of us. He has made us more than conquerors as Romans 8:37 says we are to be in Christ.

God's Will is His Word

Posted By at Wednesday, August 02, 2017

In His prayer in John 17, Jesus prayed for five important things for all of us.

The five things He prayed for were as follows:

The First Request - UNITY! John 17:9-12 NKJ version “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled."

The Second Request - JOY! John 17:13 NKJ version "But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world."

The Third Request - PROTECTION! John 17:15 NKJ version "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world."

The Fourth Request - PURITY! John 17:17 NKJ version "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world."

The Fifth Request - ETERNAL LIFE! John 17:24 NKJ version “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world."

He prayed that the Father would keep His disciples safe and from evil. Then He reveals the way that God will accomplish this - through His Word. Anyone who desires to live for God, must reject the devil and reject the world's system they must know God's Word, otherwise it will be a hard walk.

When people study the scriptures they reveal the will of God in our actions and attitudes. To be filled with the knowledge of God's will, we must be filled with His Word because God's Word is His will! Those who are ignorant of God's Word will be ignorant of God's will, and they will continue to struggle.

Knowledge of God's will is foundational in developing Christian conduct and character. There is no way we can fulfil God's will if we don't know what it is.

The starting point for any Christian is in understanding God's will for one's life.

How does a person obtain such knowledge? The first step is to desire it.

Jeremiah 29:13 "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

Many people ask the Lord for knowledge of His will, but don't receive it because they aren't seeking with ALL THEIR HEART. No one who has ever sought the Lord with his whole heart has ever been disappointed.

The Holy Spirit is the dispenser of God's wisdom. It is through Him that we know the things God has revealed to us. One of the primary ministries of the Holy Spirit is to reveal God's will to us.

There is no way we can walk worthy of the Lord and please Him if we don't know His will. Furthermore, we can't be fruitful without the knowledge of His will.

God has provided all that we need to be successful and victorious in this life. Believe His Word.

Have a wonderful week enjoying the WHOLE TRUTH!
