Real Freedom In Christ

Posted By at Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Jesus said in John 8:31-32 31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.

32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 3:17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Freedom is a great thing to know and experience, but I find it funny that most people who are not Christians think they are freer than we who are Christians.

Most people who do not go to Church see our lifestyle as a list of do's and don'ts. But the truth is and they do not realize there are many more do's than there are don'ts. They do not understand that God has set a list that is for our protection and wellbeing.

I don't need alcohol to raise my spirits I'm already raised up in God by His Spirit. Alcohol is about 90+% proof but the Holy Spirit is 100% proof all the time. In my past life I was a policeman and dance-club bouncer and could easily have become a slave to alcohol, but since I've become a love slave to Jesus I don't need the alcohol any more. While I am obedient to His Word, the alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography or anything else the world offers has no interest for me.

I have discovered John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

Jesus said in John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Galatians 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

God Has Promised to Meet Every Need

Posted By at Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore do not worry, saying,"What shall we eat? or "What shall we drink?‟ or "What shall we wear?‟ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Jesus is saying here, that rather than being preoccupied with material needs, our ambition should be to seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, knowing that when we do, He has promised by Covenant that all the other things we need will be added unto us too.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Phil 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

In this passage of Philippians, Paul has just told his readers that riches are not to be trusted in. He says it's OK to have riches but not to trust in them, to do things God's way always brings prosperity and blessing into your life.

I want you to notice that he says God will supply, 'not according to your need but according to His riches in Chris Jesus.'

Back in the Old Testament book of Malachi we see one of the promises of God. Whether you accept tithing or not, it is in the Bible and Jesus spoke about it in his earthly ministry.

In Malachi 3:10-11 “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the LORD of Hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

“And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says the LORD of Hosts.

I know there are those who debate tithing is not for today, etc. But I don't want to agree with that stream then we would both be missing out on God's best blessings, so we tithe and enjoy the blessings because of our obedience.

Paul also tells us in 2 Corinthians that all the promises of God are available to all believers. But I have noticed that not all believers believe or receive the promises of God.

Paul wrote in 2 Cor 1:20 “For all the promises of God in Him are "Yes!" and in Him "Amen," to the glory of God through us.”

Then he continues in Vs 21-22  Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

He has given the Holy Spirit as the guarantee, that's something you should ponder on for a few minutes if you have not yet been a recipient of the Holy Spirit and the ability to speak in other tongues. Then get started and be blessed in that regard.

Hello, it's Me!

Posted By at Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Have you ever had one of those calls on your answer service or phone where someone says: 'Hello, it's me! Give me a call!'

Unless your phone can give you the caller's number or name, it can be a bit disconcerting and leave you wondering who it was!

In the same way, sometimes we can hear messages in our head and we wonder, Is this God speaking to me or is it just myself?

I have often used this illustration in my teaching and preaching; when I was travelling overseas, sometimes for weeks on end, if Elizabeth was not travelling with me at that particular time and I would make a phone call home, when she answered the phone I didn't have to ask, "Is Elizabeth there?"

I know her voice because we have communicated over many years; [sometimes she would like me to say more than I do,, but it’s a man thing]. The point I want to make is if we will spend time with The Lord and communicate with Him regularly we get to know His voice and thereby know when He is talking to us.

So if you have a thought come into your head and you're not sure what to do, try doing this!

Take whatever you are thinking about and begin to look for Scriptures and find as many verses as you can about that particular topic or thought. See what God says in His Word, because He will never tell you to do something or lead you to something that is contrary to His Word.

If what you are hearing in your head goes along with The Word then go for it, if you can't find it in God's Word ignore it for now until He gives you some more direction.

Jeremiah 29:11 NLT "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

John 10:10 NLT The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Learn to recognize His voice.

Be Careful What You Think & Look At

Posted By at Wednesday, March 08, 2017

Three Ways To Watch Your Thinking!

We all protect our homes, our cars, even our skin and some of us our time, but sometimes we may neglect to guard one of the most important areas—our thought life. We need to take control and place a guard over our thought life, our thinking and our eye gate.

How do you do that?

Take control. Don't allow your thoughts to wander like an out-of-control vehicle. Grab hold of the steering wheel and allow the Holy Spirit to direct your thoughts.

The Word of God says in 2 Cor 10:5 To take captive every thought and to bring it into the obedience of Christ.

NLT We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

You may not be able to control every thought that comes in, but you can determine whether or not it stays.

I heard Kenneth E. Hagin once say: "You can't stop the birds from flying over your head but you can stop them making a nest in your hair!"

Guard your gate. What is the gate of your mind? It's your eyes and ears. Don't put junk into your thought life by throwing open the gate. You must filter what comes in.

One of the songs we used to teach little children warns them to be careful what they do with their eyes. All of us need to remember this lesson as we decide which TV shows and movies to watch, which books to read, which songs to listen to and what to do on the Internet. If something comes on TV or across your computer screen that is not of God, shut if off, don't even spend any time on it.

Jesus said in Matt 6:22-23 "The eye is the light of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness."

Jesus is saying that we will become what we watch with our eyes. If we view good things; this will help us be good. But if we view evil things; this will encourage us to be evil.

Psalm 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.

Proverbs 4:25 Keep your eyes focused on what is right and look straight ahead to what is good.

Remember the old computer term G.I.G.O. - Garbage in, garbage out.

Replace the Thoughts. Proverbs 23:7 As a man thinks in his heat so is he!

When thoughts of fear or doubt come your way, replace them with love and faith. You can't think two complete thoughts at the same time.

Be careful of your thoughts, for your thoughts become your words.

Be careful of your words, for your words become your actions.

Be careful of your actions, for your actions become your habits.

Be careful of your habits, for your habits become your character.

Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny.

Prov 4:23-25 NCV Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.

Isaiah 26:3 NLT You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Philippians 4:8 NLT And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

A Hundredfold Return!

Posted By at Wednesday, March 01, 2017

There has been a lot of teaching in certain quarters about the Hundredfold return and relating it solely to financial sowing, but that is not the only thing that Jesus is referring to in Mark 10.

Mark 10:29-31 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

I think it's clear first of all that Jesus is not talking about heaven; He's talking about the here and now, where you are today, right now on the earth.

There will be no persecution in heaven; the persecution is all down here in this fallen world we live in.

The hundredfold return does not only have to be financially if you read Jesus' words carefully. Whatever we do for His sake and the gospel's. But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time.

He can give you a return of His involvement in your life.

He can get involved in giving you favour or ideas or in any other way, that it will be a great benefit to you.

In order for this to happen, however, your heart must be involved in the things pertaining to the kingdom of God, His sake and the gospel's.

You must trust Him not just in what you have, or what you are. You must let Him lead and guide you by His Holy Spirit. He is the one who gave you what you have and He has the right, as your master, to tell you where and when to sow it. We here at Family Faith Centre are always blessed when people sow into our programs, especially the outreaches in Romania or Philippines. IF you want to help any time just contact us, or sow your gift online. Or read more about these missions. The Lord blesses your obedience, not the size of the gift.

The Lord in effect is promising in Mark 10: "If I give you an assignment and you follow the assignment and if there is a cost to you for obeying me, I not only will make up the cost to you before you leave this planet, but will also bless you immeasurably meantime because of it."
