Are You Receiving From God?

Posted By at Wednesday, September 30, 2015

There are many books on the issue and teachers often come up with complicated formulas and doctrines on how to receive blessings from God. Look around for the fruit of these teachers and their teachings. You may find that many lives are lacking and some are even ship wrecked by their false doctrines. The Bible is the Word of God and is the Lord Jesus Christ’s promises and His Instructions to you to live in His promises. Without following the most Important Instructions you will fail in all you do.

Mark 12:30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.

This is the first commandment and I believe the next most Important Instruction is in Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you."

Without these two commandments being obeyed, there is no relationship or fellowship to communicate with or hear from heaven!

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

God created you to love Him and to seek Him with all your heart - all the time.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

If you will love Him with all your heart and seek Him first you will hear Him every time!

John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Revelations 2:4 Nevertheless I have this against you that you have left your first love.

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Matthew 7:7-8 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives and he who seeks finds and to him who knocks it will be opened.

It's simple if you follow His instructions.

Are You Hearing What God is Saying?

Posted By at Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Are you like little Samuel? Saying; "Speak Lord, for I am listening."

1 Sam 3:9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, "Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears." So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

Learning to recognize God's voice is not a skill that's acquired overnight, because God speaks to us at different times, in different settings and in different ways.

  1. It requires you to mature spiritually. In John 10:4 Jesus said His sheep follow Him because they know His voice. Did you notice, Jesus said that His "sheep", not His lambs who know His voice. Baby sheep just follow adult sheep until their senses are trained. Thank God there's grace for those who are immature. If your Spiritual ears are not yet developed, God will work with you until you learn to recognize His voice.
  2. It requires guidance and confirmation from Godly leadership. Heb 13:17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you . Who's your Spiritual leader?
  3. Don't be limited to your previous experiences. God spoke to Moses on a mountain that shook. He spoke to Elijah through a still small voice. So don't limit God; He will speak to you through The Word, through those qualified to teach you His Word, through a song, sometime even through a difficult situation the devil brings along, and even your own thoughts and desires when you're submitted to Him. The key is to stay close to God and keep your heat open.
  4. Above all else, it requires obedience. Psalm 27:8, "When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, Lord, I will seek."

When it comes to hearing from God, what's your response time?

"When I get around to it?… I'll see if I can fit you in!… I'll think about it!"

All wrong! God speaks, and continues to speak, to those who listen and obey, and continue to listen and obey His Word!

Believe God for the Good Things!

Posted By at Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Many people strive each day to do what Paul says in 2 Cor 5:7 'Walk by faith, not by sight.' But it doesn't come easily to some people. It takes a mind that is saturated in scripture to make a faith choice when you're staring down the barrel of an impossible situation. You need to know God promised good things.

2 Sam 7:28 NLT For you are God, O Sovereign Lord. Your words are truth, and you have promised these good things to your servant.

So just how do you develop that kind of faith?

For any relationship to grow both parties must invest time and energy into getting to know one other. Lasting relationships are based on trust, and an intimate knowledge of the others habits and character.

So it's the same with God. Over time, as you prove His faithfulness and reliability, it becomes easier to let go of any fear and really trust Him and His Word.

It means getting to know God, it means walking with God, it means spending time in His Word, it means getting to know His guileless character and the countless examples of His unfailing love illustrated in His ironclad promises. It means praying, it means talking, it means sharing all the details of your life and the inner workings of your heart with Him even though He knows it all already, because He enjoys the intimacy of the relationship.

So just like any balanced relationship, you can't always be the one talking. We have to make time to listen, it means to come before the Lord and get quiet, it means silencing the noise of our thoughts and the rush of our emotions.

Remember - the only place fear has to work is in the empty space where your faith should be. Fear is based on what you see and hear. Faith is based on knowing that God's Word is truth and God's truth is always consistent, it never changes and He has promised 'good things' to those who believe Him for them!

Be a Doer & Not Just a Listener!

Posted By at Wednesday, September 09, 2015

James 1:23-25 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Many Christians attend church and ONLY listen to The Word of God. Often they see it as a history book and walk away powerless and defeated! The Bible is God and The Lord Jesus Christ speaking directly to you, so you need to obey and do it.

Jesus said in John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

The Word of God really is The Lord Jesus Christ speaking to you and guiding you. It's His instruction manual for you to receive all of His wonderful promises to have a victorious life here on earth now.

2 Tim 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Many Christians have followed seductive false doctrines without ever checking God's Word to see if they are true.  Some will follow a pastor who may be eloquent but has no anointing to teach and this leads to missing the mark and having major problems in their lives because of no solid Word instruction.

2 Tim 4:3-4 New Living Translation For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

You probably know that you are what you eat. If you spend all your time eating junk food and soft drinks your health will fail eventually. You need to eat a good balance of protein and fruit and vegetables to remain healthy.

Spiritually speaking you should be feeding on The Word of God to bear the Fruit of The Spirit. If you're busy eating false doctrines, your life will only bare the fruit of failure.

Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.

Jude 1:4 New Living Translation I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord Jesus Christ!

Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

So are you going to do it?

Are You Ready?

Posted By at Wednesday, September 02, 2015

Peter knew that hard days lay ahead for his fellow believers. So he reminded them about their security as children of God: they were chosen by Jesus, born into a living hope, given spiritual protection during this life, and guaranteed eternity in heaven with their Father. We can learn from that instruction.

1 Peter 1:13-14 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance. 15 But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.

Peter then gave them specific ways to prepare for the coming trials. His words, divinely inspired by the Lord, can guide us as well.

His FIRST instruction relates to their minds: Therefore gird up the loins of your minds. What you believe has a direct impact on your response to life’s problems. If you trust that God is really caring for you, then you will feel less threatened by any hard circumstances. But if you decide you must rely on yourself then you are more likely to react poorly to situations beyond your control.

A negative attitude, whether from anger, fear, worry, or jealousy can make a hard time worse! Preparation for the future starts with developing sound Word thinking.

The SECOND instruction from Peter is: To be sober. In other words, to maintain our balance in the midst of crises: and rest your hope fully upon God's grace.

That requires you to resist quick fixes to problems and refusing to embrace ungodly ideas or philosophies. Our old enemy satan is quick to offer suggestions designed to trip us up or turn us away from God’s way and God's Word. But with the Holy Spirit’s help we can learn to stand firm in a crisis and steadfastly follow the Lord. Are you preparing spiritually for whatever your future holds?

There are two ways to prepare for life’s difficulties: Biblical thinking and balanced judgment.

Peter has this THIRD instruction included in vs. 13: Rest your hope. No matter how hard the circumstances, life has purpose and meaning in Christ. The Saviour has promised always to be with us and to keep watch as a shepherd cares for his sheep. Through the Holy Spirit’s transforming power, troubled times can be used as opportunities to learn more about God’s faithfulness, so draw on His strength, and experience personal growth.

Peter's FOURTH point in vs. 14: Not conforming yourselves to the former lusts. That means resisting your former lifestyle. It means renewing your mind. When troubles come it is tempting to revert to ungodly habits. In these seasons of life, satan will encourage us to pursue any path that leads away from the Lord. We need to remember that we are New Creations whose lifestyles are to match our position as God’s children. That old lifestyle does not fit us anymore, that has passed away and is no longer a part of us at all. We are New Creations with NO PAST!

Then FIFTH and finally he says in vs. 15: You also be holy in all your conduct. Making holiness our goal or being holy or set apart begins with giving up control over our life to the Holy Spirit. As we submit to Him, He will begin to express the life of Christ through us. By learning what pleases God and acting accordingly, we cooperate with His efforts to conform us to the Son’s image.

While struggles can almost be a part of everyday life, we do not have to be overcome by them. In Christ we have already overcome them.

Have a wonderful week following The Lord.
