You Can Have an Unshakable Trust in God

Posted By at Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Just a quick glance at today’s newspaper headlines will give you evidence that we have reached a crisis point in history.

John 16:33 Living Bible I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.

Every now and then we may go through difficult times, and when that happens, it’s easy to get disheartened.

But what is it that makes a champion athlete or sportsman?

It's their ability to stay the course. It’s the ones that endure to the end, no matter what mountain there is to face. They rise to the challenge.

Noah, Moses, Abraham, Peter and Paul were all great men who lived ordinary lives and who became extraordinary.

Why? They didn’t live for themselves, but for the purpose and will of their Father because of the trust they placed in God. They understood the cost to follow Him. I wonder do you really understand the cost involved in following Jesus?

God's Word indicates that even during periods of challenge and adversity, God expects His children to respond correctly. And His word equips us to do so.

1 Peter 1:6-7 NKJ In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,

that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

What is a right response? Peter's words teach us to rejoice during difficulty. Of course, he does not mean that we must be glad about the hardship. But we can be joyful because we know that God is taking us through the circumstances and will bring us out on the other side.

Even though being positive during something negative does not seem logical, it actually makes sense for several reasons.

First of all in difficult experiences the Lord can use them to teach us endurance. He did not send the problem but He can turn it around so we can learn from it during the deliverance process.

Second, the heavenly Father has a plan for each believer, and hardship can prepare us to do His will. In the process, we will find that our faith has been strengthened. Paul says in 2 Tim 2:3 As a good soldier of Christ Jesus, accept your share of the troubles we all have.

As we realize God can bring benefit from any adversity, we’ll begin to face challenging times with confidence that He will always bring us through into victory. This leads to joy, because we know He can build our endurance, making us people with unshakeable trust in Him all the time.

God Can Do It

Posted By at Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Too many Christians are moved by their emotions and the things people do or don't do. This directs their actions and often causes them to miss what God wants to do in their lives. But God's Word says in Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Jesus knew firsthand what it meant to have family question His actions and to be rejected by those He wanted to serve. In John 6:66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

However, He never allowed such circumstances to control His emotions or dictate His actions. Instead, He chose to trust that the Father was able to carry out His Word and do what He had said.

We are called to follow Christ’s example and believe that God is able to do what He has promised.

For example, the Bible pledges eternal salvation for everyone who asks for forgiveness in Jesus’ name. Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

The Son satisfied His Father’s justice by dying on the cross for all our sins—from little white lies to unspeakably vile acts. When we have true faith in Jesus, God will forgive us and make us a New Creation in Christ as 2 Cor 5:17 says. No matter what we may have done, He invites us to draw near in faith and receive the gift of everlasting life.

Having saved us, God says He will establish us in truth as Paul says in Romans 16:25; after giving us a firm foundation in Christ, He makes us righteousness. Paul says in 2 Cor 5:21 Through the leading of His Holy Spirit and the Word, we start to see things as the Father does and learn what pleases Him.

By believing that God keeps His promises, we will become stronger in our faith and more at peace. Hardships that once would have thrown us off course will lose their power to shake us. Hope will replace discouragement, and trust will overcome doubt. Each time trouble comes, focus your attention upon your loving heavenly Father and His ability to care for you totally according to His Word. He can do it.

The Resurrection

Posted By at Wednesday, April 16, 2014

From early on, centuries ago, people have struggled with the idea of the resurrection, simply because it defies reason.

However, believing that Jesus rose from the dead is not negotiable for us Christians. If the resurrection didn’t happen, then Jesus Christ did not triumph over death. And without His victory, we cannot be free from sin and its punishment.

There is strong evidence that Christ did actually rise from the dead.

First, He taught that He would in Mark 8:31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

His return to life wasn’t some kind of fluke or trick; rather, it was part of God’s plan since the beginning. In fact, centuries before Jesus’ birth, both Isaiah and Daniel prophesied about resurrection.

Isaiah 26:19 Your dead shall live; together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust. For your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

Daniel 12:2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Second, the disciples and apostles were so convinced Christ had returned to life that they proclaimed a risen Lord to a hostile world. They faced persecution, physical suffering, and even death for preaching their message. None of them would have willingly laid down their lives unless they were certain about Jesus’ atoning death and resurrection.

Third, the Jewish believers transformed their worship methods to celebrate Jesus’ victory over the grave. They moved their day of worship from Saturday to Sunday because He arose on the first day of the week.

Mark 16:2 Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

Even more persuasive is the fact that they stopped bringing animal sacrifices to the temple because they accepted Jesus as the atonement for sin.

Jesus said He would rise again and then sit at His Father’s right hand in heaven. He did exactly as He promised. His supernatural return to life is confirmation that everything else He said was also 100% reliable.

Mark 16.1-6 Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.

Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?”

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.

And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.

But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.

An Extra-Ordinary Life

Posted By at Wednesday, April 09, 2014

Romans 4:21 Abraham being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform.

God promised Abram and Sarah a child, but they could not figure out how God was going to bless them with a child, they descended from Revelation Knowledge back into REASON and Ishmael was born and that has been a problem ever since.

However, when Abraham got into REVELATION KNOWLEDGE and he did what God said to do; Isaac was born and that has been a blessing ever since. Abraham and Sarah enjoyed an extra-ordinary life.

If you read Romans chapter 4, you will find that it says Abraham was a man of faith who gave glory to God, finally being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He [God] was able also to perform [v. 19-21].

But that was not talking about the Abram in Genesis 17! Something happened to the man in Genesis 16 and the man mentioned in Romans 4. He eventually got Revelation Knowledge of God as El Shaddai [Genesis 17:1].

If you are going to have an extra-ordinary life, you must believe that God can do that which is extra-ordinary in your life. You have to become like Abraham did after He got the Revelation Knowledge that God is a covenant keeping God. He became fully persuaded that God is El Shaddai and He will keep His promise.

Ephesians 3:20 God is able to do super-abundantly above all that you can ask, think or even dream about according to the power that works in us.

So, even when you cannot see how it will happen, decide that you are going to have an extra-ordinary life by believing the Word of God.

God is a covenant keeping God. When you believe His Word, you will see extra-ordinary things in your life. It will then be extra-ordinary.

You Haven't Seen it All Yet

Posted By at Wednesday, April 02, 2014

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Here Paul is quoting from Isaiah 64:4 and basically he is saying that man outside of Christ has no idea of the wonderful things God has prepared for him who is in Christ.

There are things that you probably haven't seen yet. There are things you probably haven't even heard about yet.  God has a way of doing things that we have not even considered yet.

There are blessings coming your way that will cause you to marvel. God has prepared much more for those who love Him. You may think God is slow in answering your prayer but He has already answered from before the foundation of the world. He is waiting on you getting in position and getting your eyes off 'the answer' and back on to Him in praise and worship.

In Romans 5, Paul points out five 'much mores' in this chapter alone:

  1. Romans 5:9 - Much more justified by His blood.
  2. Romans 5:10 - Much more reconciled.
  3. Romans 5:15 - Much more grace.
  4. Romans 5:17 - Much more righteousness.
  5. Romans 5:20 - Much more grace.

God has revelation that is beyond human thinking. He has provision that is way above your thinking right now. He has power to manifest in your life that is above your ability to understand. He has that ready for all those who love Him. Just love Him and worship Him today - and it's all on the way!
