God Has a Purpose For You

Posted By at Wednesday, January 29, 2014

Many Christians today are not living the successful life that God intends for them because they have missed the purpose for which they were born.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Paul says in Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

If you are going to live successfully, you have to know what you are here for.

Any tool that is used for something other than what it was created for will not be effective and it could get damaged.
At times I have needed a hammer to drive in a nail, but I have been too lazy to go out to the storage shed to get one [don't you get too self-righteous because you've done it too].  So I have ended up using whatever I had handy, like a spanner. Well, I got the nail in, but not as well as if I used the hammer.  Also there are now a couple of small dents in the wall.

Too many Christians today are not functioning or flowing in the thing they were created for and consequently they are not being effective. Also sometimes they get hurt and damaged. So God has a plan and you have a purpose. In fact, the word in Ephesians 2:10 translated workmanship literally means you are a masterpiece handcrafted by God.

The Greek word is the same word we derive our English word poem from.
In other words your life is not to be without order or symmetry and rhyme or reason.

God has some specific things mapped out for your life. You are not just an accident. You are not somebody's excess baggage. You have a purpose to fulfill God's plan.

Ask God today to show you that purpose and then develop the gifts He has given you to fulfill that purpose.

Do You Search the Scriptures

Posted By at Wednesday, January 22, 2014

I see that often people who go to church just accept what is given out from the minister without searching the scriptures for themselves. So as a result Isaiah says; it is the blind leading the blind and they both fall in the ditch.

When Paul preached the gospel to the Berean Christians, they did something that others had not done—they searched the Scriptures daily.

Acts 17:11-12 The Message Bible. They sent them to Berea, where they again met with the Jewish community. They were treated a lot better there than in Thessalonica. The Jews received Paul’s message with enthusiasm and met with him daily, examining the Scriptures to see if they supported what he said. A lot of them became believers, including many Greeks who were prominent in the community, women and men of influence.

According to the next verse, the result of their search was that many of them believed.

Jesus said in John 5:39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me."

Here at Family Faith Centre in Melbourne, I encourage the people to bring their Bible to church and to follow the teaching and then also to check it all when they go home to make sure we are being true to God's Word the Scriptures.

I once heard of a Jewish believer who said his daughter, who had become a Christian, challenged him to read through the New Testament.

He began in Matthew and was astonished to find so many Old Testament references to the Messiah being fulfilled by Jesus. The Scriptures testified of Jesus! His initial reason for searching the Scriptures was to prove his daughter was wrong but instead, he ended up giving his heart to Christ.

Look for The Christ as you read The Bible, and encourage others to do the same.

Jesus Believes in You

Posted By at Wednesday, January 15, 2014

I want you to understand this today: Jesus doesn't invite you to follow Him because you believe in Him. He invited you to follow Him because He believes in you!

In Matt 4:19 He said; "Follow me and I will make you."

He does not want you to make yourself, but to depend on Him and His grace.

He knows what you can become when His grace touches your life.

Matthew was a Jewish tax collector worked for taxes for the Romans, who enslaved his people. In their eyes he was lower than scum. Yet Jesus called him and he ended up writing the first book in the New Testament.

When Nathanael was invited to meet Jesus he was very sceptical. He said in John 1:46 "Can… any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, 'Come and see.'"

Even after three years of exposure to His miracles and messages, the disciples still had many doubts.

Check how often He says to them, "You of little faith… why do you not believe?… If only you believed you would see."

Knowing they were anxious about what would happen when He left them and went back to Heaven, Jesus said to them in John 14:16 "I will pray to the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter [the Holy Spirit], that He may abide with you forever."

The Greek word used for comforter is paracletos and that means 'one who comes alongside to help'.

There won't be a day when you don't need God's help, we all need His direction and leading every day!

Jesus invites you to come just as you are.

Come with your self-righteous or sordid past.

Come with your halo or your hang-ups.

Come, even though you wonder if He can do what He promises.

Let His power and His anointing and His presence fill you. What do you have to lose? You've tried your own way and it didn't work so good - now try His way.

Come on - you won't be disappointed, He won't let you down!

God's Word Never Changes

Posted By at Wednesday, January 08, 2014

People often live according to their feelings. It makes life like riding a roller coaster; one day laughing and feeling good, the next crying and feeling sorry for themselves.

They're being tormented and controlled. They need emotional maturity, and they need God's help to attain it.

It's easy to fall into the trap of believing your fickle feelings more than what God says in His Word. That will take a constant act of your will to choose to do things God's way rather than your own. But when you do, you'll discover that life is more enjoyable when you're living according to God's plan for your life.

Just in the same way you don't let anybody who knocks on your door come in and make themselves at home in your living room, then don't let every emotion that surfaces dictate the direction of your day or decide your responses.

The Bible says in Proverbs 4:24 NCV Be careful what you think.

2 Corinthians 10:5 NCV Capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.

If it doesn't line up with God's Word - don't think it.

Proverbs 23:7 As a man thinks in his heart so it he.

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:7 We walk by faith, not by sight.

Now this may come as a surprise; you don't always feel God's presence.

After the crucifixion two disciples were walking along the Emmaus Road when Jesus came up and walked along with them. But they didn't recognise who He was. They didn't know He was the same leader they'd followed for three years.

Mark 16:9-13 Message Bible After rising from the dead, Jesus appeared early on Sunday morning to Mary Magdalene, whom he had delivered from seven demons. She went to his former companions, now weeping and carrying on, and told them. When they heard her report that she had seen him alive and well, they didn’t believe her. Later he appeared, but in a different form, to two of them out walking in the countryside. They went back and told the rest, but they weren’t believed either.

You can't live by feelings you must live by the Word of God, because your feeling change with the weather and the circumstances and the things others do and say. But God's Word never changes it is always constant and you can trust it and believe what it says.

Much More in 2-0-1-4

Posted By at Wednesday, January 01, 2014

Where did the year go? Suddenly it is January...again!

How did your 2013 go? I hope you made forward strides spiritually and improved in every area of your life.

Whatever happened was the result of the choices you made and the seeds you sowed previously.

This New Year we are now into; my faith statement for 2014 is:

IN 2-0-1-FOUR THERE WILL BE MUCH MORE!

But again - what happens this year really depends on your choices previously.

Most people, even many Christians, do not realise that their life depends TOTALLY on the choices they make.

Galatians 6:7 JB Phillips Don’t be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God! A man’s harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows.

Living Bible Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows!

Amplified For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.

That should be pretty clear to all of you. Everything in life is the result of choices you made, to sow or not to sow, whatever kind of seed it may be.

That is a Bible Principle that started back in Genesis 8:22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and day and night shall not cease.

The FIRST principle here is SEEDTME and HARVEST. It always works exactly as God said it would and He has given you and I the choice to make it work FOR us or AGAINST us.

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life that both you and your descendants may live.

So your choices determine not only the state of your own life but also the state of your children and grand-children's lives. Friends we have a HUGE responsibility before God. Will you choose to make this year a great year where there can be MUCH MORE for you and your entire family?

The choice is entirely yours, God does not make the choices for you, and He has given each of us that responsibility.

I pray you make RIGHT and GOOD choices this coming year and start to live the good life He has already planned for you.

Let me end this Booster by saying a BIG thank you to all those who have supported our ministry this past year, those who made any contribution, financially, in prayer or in practical support for us, it is much appreciated. Also for those who have supported our mission outreach into Philippines with funds for the children in need there. A very big 'Thank You' to those who have contributed towards that fund.

Elizabeth and I pray for you and your family this year - that all may be well with you and that you make good choices to be blessed and be a blessing.
